Vlog 357: Otter Surprise!
Viewers may recall my fondness for tiny narrowboats (see video links below) so it should come as no surprise that with my cabin cruiser out of the water for refurbishment, I may have strayed into a boat brokerage and ‘accidentally’ bought another narrowboat…

Microplus cruisers

I understand you may not want to say too much, but I am curious as to whether you did actually end up buying “Gentian”? I really really enjoy your tour videos, so I am eagerly but patiently waiting for your next vlog, where, hopefully, all will be revealed as to whether ou have actually bought the boat. I have to admit, I like twiggy, but I like Gentian better!
Haha, see the next video! ;-)
As the Sea Otter is aluminium you probably don’t need blacking to prevent rust so is it just painted like the rest of the boat?
Mostly they’re still painted with the bitumen, I believe, but it’s purely for cosmetic purposes.
Congratulations on considering another narrowboat! Although you may be setting sights on an aluminium hull this time around, remember to give an extra wave to the Aintree boaters, to let them know you’re still a fan of the Beetles.
Will do! Cheers.
Jolly good! Back to cruising the cut again!
No surprise there with buying this tidy craft David. Like you I much prefer the smaller boats.
What are your plans for Twiggy now though I wonder?
I’ll explain in a forthcoming video!
There is an aluminum aircraft putty one can apply to the hull. I believe it’s called Aluma-fil. can easily be sanded with a small DA or orbital sander. as small as the scars are, they could be sanded by hand.
Fantastic, thank you!
