Vlog 243: A Grand Day Out

The canals are an oasis of calm, peace and tranquility – and now of culture too, as The Piano Boat brings concert-hall level classical concerts to the inland waterways, courtesy Masa Tayama and Rhiana Henderson. Join me as I talk to them about the project, the hurdles they’ve had to overcome and their plans.

  1. Great video; I have seen the piano boat before and wondered how they got it on there and with all the humidty, it must be a task keeping it in tune. Also interesting is that a famous pianist like Masa is stressed by performing…I thought it was only us lowly pianists that get the collywobbles!

Magnificent, David. From afar, I have become totally hooked on narrowboating, and I also love the piano and piano music. What a great combination! Beautiful boat and fascinating people. And of course, as always, top-notch video and editing. Going to be tough to beat this one! I can’t help wondering what the people at Steinway thought of this venture.

  3. Absolutely marvellous David. Well done.

  4. This is going to another level David.
    Well done, very enjoyable.

  5. Fantastic! Thanks so much for introducing this to us on the cut, I would love to listen to one of their piano ensembles, what a lovely sound to hear….. amazing talent and all without music!!

  6. As a musician that was very enjoyable.
    Thanks David.

  7. Interesting people. Beautiful arrangement and concept.

  8. Very special, thank you!
