In this vlog I continue down the River Trent, from Holme lock to Hazleford lock, giving the engine some rarely-used revs yet still being slower than another boat that was doing the same trip.

  1. You commented on the 60/40 split for Diesel Motor and domestic
    In the future would you deem it wise to think of haveing a smaller Diesel tank fitted for domestic Diesel if the authorities want a more accurate usage for their taxes ?

    • It would seem sensible but it would be quite awkward to fit another tank (to feed the diesel heater, which is at the back of the boat) as there’s no space, plus it’s quite likely the marinas and fuelboats will simply sell standard white diesel rather than having separate tanks for red and white and so it’s unclear whether any tax split is still going to be possible.

  2. Ah the infamous kilometer per hour! Divide by 8 multilpy by 5 and you arrive at MPH! Why oh why do we use it when we measure distances in miles! Beyond me David as many people have no idea what a kilometer is. As usual a very good vlog. Cheers

  3. Another great video. I had to laugh at your comment about wizzing by at 6 mph. We have a river here in Omaha that runs across Nebraska called the Missouri River. People refer to it as the muddy mo. ( muddy missouri ), and it is muddy. The river current travels at 6 mph. It’s very dangerous but people do boat on it. About 150 years ago it was a mile across and one could walk across it. Today it is maybe 1/4 mile across and about 90 ft. deep, with lots of eddies.
