Vlog 114: Size Matters
On a glorious day in mid-June I departed from the canal basin at Stratford-upon-Avon and headed north up the South Stratford canal. En route I ducked under low tunnels, breathed in for narrow bridges, held my breath on an aqueduct, saw some unusual wildlife and showed off my pasty white legs. All of those treats are included in the video.
Those narrow bridges on the southern Stratford-on-Avon are among the narrowest on the canals – very difficult indeed to steer through without touching the sides. And I discovered when steering across the Edstone Aqueduct that if you crouch down a bit so that you can’t see the canal ahead or the towpath to the side, the boat appears to be floating in mid air with no visible means of support, which is really, really weird! (But fun to experience.)
