Vlog 354: A Christmas Cracker
I was very grateful to be invited along to my friend Lorna’s 25-foot canal narrowboat for Christmas dinner along with our friends Andy and Steve aka the Bears Aboard. Lorna cooked us a fabulous roast turkey feast in her tiny galley and a good time was had by all. See my prior Christmas dinner video by clicking here.
Lorna’s “Beetle” narrowboat has a tiny galley comprising a two-burner gas (propane) hob plus a small oven along with a campervan-sized fridge. By judicious swapping around of the roasted veg with the (pre-cooked but had to be warmed) roast turkey, along with other veg steamed in pans on the hob, Lorna was able to produce a really substantial meal for all four of us, with frozen Yorkshire puddings popped in the oven at the last minute, since they only take a couple of minutes to warm from chilled.
For dessert we had a chocolate Yule log that I provided which was very tasty (from Tesco, if you’re curious). Between the main and dessert we took the Bear’s dog “Blue” for a short walk, which let the turkey dinner go down a bit and make way for the pudding.
