Vlog 340: Monster Fun

Join me as I take a wonderful trip on a wonderful, tiny, hand-made boat along the Leeds & Liverpool canal. Created by engineer Jonny Bowker, “Nessie” is an absolute beauty.

Originally a rowing boat on Loch Ness in Scotland, the hull had decayed to a very poor state with missing transom, holes in the bottom and gaps in the bow woodwork. The remaining wood had been covered in fence paint!

Jonny spent months restoring the fibreglass and wood at his engineering workshop then added a tiny Kubota petrol motor, steering gear, instruments and seats to create a glorious day boat reminiscent of years gone by which looks to all the world as if it’s a steam launch (helped by a ‘steam’ generator hidden inside the exhaust funnel)
