Vlog 329: Carpet Diem
As part of the ongoing refurbishment of my cabin cruiser “Twiggy”, I have ripped the carpet out of the front cabin, as you will see in this video. You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs, as they say.
Credit to my Patreon supporter “Martin L” for the genius video title!
Foam backed headlining might be a solution to replacing the old carpet. Comes in various shades and cuts without fraying so it is easy to butt joint unobtrusively.

Blimey! You have a task on your hands David! Are you sure you should have disposed of the roof carpeting etc? What are you going to use as a template?
You mentioned using the same material you used in your shower refurbishment. Wouldn’t that risk encouraging condensation?
Any way, good luck. Looking forward to the next episode.
Yeah, I think I’m sticking with carpet after all.
Good call on not touching the battery terminals with the tape measure blade! ⚡️ ⚡️
The NB shower panels may or may not work on the ceiling, except possibly in the center areas where it’s reasonably flat? Kinda hard to tell the amount of contour from the videos. But where they might be super useful is as a covering or hiding layer around the various openings, where all the old hinge holes are. Maybe?
Did you take a class on generating puns for headlines????
Cheers from Virginia, USA.
Haha I confess this one’s title came from a viewer, on of my Patreon supporters, I can take no credit (but wish I’d thought of it)
Hi there
I bought for my boat this Fridge, easy on the batteries and even better if you stick some extra insulation on the cold box end lid and bottom to stop the cold escaping to the outside. Did a test on my 300 watt solar power station. Got to 40c in 15 min, and it runs then only for 3 min an hour to keep at temp according to outside temp! The solar power station was quite happy to run the fridge for over 24 hours before recharge.
