Vlog 325: Wire in the hole!
I take the first steps towards refurbishing Twiggy! After checking the state of the soggy towel in the back cabin, I ponder what to do with the cabin table then set about stripping the carpet from the walls but get distracted by the nest of wiring.

You’ve certainly got some investigating to do David!
As for your convertable ‘double bed’. Our bench type seating in the bow cabin on our narrow boat was never used as a double bed (we had a seperate double bed at the stern) so I removed the bench, which was very uncomfortable to sit on, and replaced with two comfortable Captain’s chairs.
Have fun young man!
Thank you, I shall!
For the bed conversion insert panel, how about a series of slats, like your bed slide-out extension thing in the camper van? Legs optional, and if they’re just loose, you could stack them out of the way in a narrow area pretty easily. Maybe some leftover tongue and groove flooring?
For the tambour door under the cooktop, you could simplify the installation a bit by mounting it on the outside, permanently at one end and then using magnets or even velcro at the opposite end on whatever bit of framing you want to install to hide the myriad holes. It would sort of peel back flexibly (like an ordinary door but sinuous instead of stiff), rather than trying to run in some kind of track that you have to wrestle to mount inside the fairly confined space.
For tracking down the water leak, use some paper towel inside and some food coloring outside, then pour a liter or two of clean water from home or a water point in the splash deck (instead of waiting for it to rain, which is what I think you did?). Perfectly clean paper towel would allow even a little food color leakage to really pop. Or is it somehow seeping in from the canal? (I can’t tell exactly how low in the boat you’re checking for the leak.)
Enjoyable as always. I do love seeing the problem solving you always need to do!
Cheers from Virginia, USA.
Cheers; my fear is that it is leaking from the canal hence the food colouring into the well deck. I tried using paper towels but the leak is so slow (it’s more of a gentle seep) that I haven’t found waiting for the water to come through to work!
