Vlog 319: Lemony Snippets
At last! Here’s the much-anticipated and very detailed tour of my 1975 Microplus 600 called “Twiggy” including all the many things I need to fix or intend to change and improve.

Hi David, did you ever show the transom replacement for a twiggy?
Mike
No, because I haven’t done it yet. When I do, there will be a video.
Hi David, this may be a silly suggestion, though I’ll say it anyway I was wondering whether the tiny cabin at the back (aft?) could become a bathroom. Even just a place to shower and use the toilet? I think Twiggy is great and there’s nothing like buying something with (quite) a few projects to make this truly your own. I look forward to seeing the DIY/ refurbishment videos. Thank you for keeping us entertained Have just subscribed to your newsletter too
Not a silly suggestion at all as I’ve been having similar thoughts myself. It would certainly make longer journeys a bit more realistic. My problem is how to contain the shower water within the cabin such that it can be pumped out. It would obviously have to be a seated shower which means I’d need to mould some kind of edges to the seats as a lip there, then a further lip on the floor, then maybe a shower curtain…? At its most basic I could use a bucket and sponge rather than an actual shower, so the space would become a ‘washing area’ rather than shower… I’m not sure yet!
I am absolutely certain you will come up with a solution. :-) A wash room of some description sounds very civilised. I think it was on your van channel someone used a pressure sprayer (designed for spraying weeds) for their shower, so there are many options, that are not always conventional. (I must remember too, to do full stops instead of emojis on your webpage, as the emojis disappear!)
Definitely – something that minimises the amount of water used would certainly be required.
Crumbs David, it’s a good job you know how to do these jobs yourself, and what a triumph it will be when complete.
That’s a delightfully optimistic outlook which I confess I do not share but let’s wait and see!!!
David, You’re planning an awful lot of changes to the new boat it will finish up like Trigger’s broom!
Hahaha mostly just cosmetic really!
Thanks for the video David, I’ve been waiting to see this. I love the boat, very cool, makes me want one but Omaha Nebraska is not a good place for a boat like that. There is the Missouri River but it’s a dangerous place to boat, dirty water, strong currant, about 7 mph. Lots of eddies and whirlpools.
Good luck with your repairs, that’s not a tough task for you.!
Cheers…!
It feels tough but it’s mostly cosmetic stuff really. The Missouri sounds quite alarming…
You’ve a lot of work to keep you busy. Looking forward to seeing your new acquisition when you’ve brought it up to your standard.
Yeah it’s going to take a few months I think!
Looks as if there are going to be (gladly) a whole series of modification & repair vlogs on the way David!
Good luck. I hope it all goes well.
And as ever, looking forward to the next vlog.
Many, many videos I suspect!
Thanks for the tour David. As you check for leaks check the anchor locker if you haven’t already done so. The moisture at the front of the V birth could be coming from there. Also there should be a drain in the anchor locker I would think and they are notorious for getting clogged with bits of flotsam and jetsam.
Good point. When I rip out the old carpet, I’ll have a good look at the bottom of the locker. Cheers
