Vlog 292: Q & A
This is a much-requested fireside* chat video where I sit and chat for nearly half an hour, answering questions posed to me by viewers.
*There’s no fireside but I did have a central heating radiator nearby.

I have owned a Wilderness Beaver for over 20 years and cruise for 3 months in France each year. When we return to England in September the boat will be moored at Osney Marina in Oxford and you would be welcome to borrow the boat for a few days, maybe a cruise to Lechlade. Obviously free as a way of thanking you for so many interesting videos over the years.
Let me know if of interest.

Hi, please leave any queries here or on YouTube, unfortunately I don’t have time to enter into individual correspondence for advice, I get so many queries.
I miss you and your proper cheese sandwiches! I often would make a cup of tea and watch Cruising The Cut! Beautiful way to start my day. Thank you!
Cheers Tracy
Just watched your 292 Vlog
Not sure where you’re based but I have a Seaotter 30ft long sitting on a trailer just outside Bedford. It’s a year 2000 boat which I purchased in 2005 and put it on a trailer in 2006 put it in a good friend’s caravan storage business and that is where it has been to date.
It’s not a basket case as I have gone to it run the engine etc year and my good friend who own’s the storage company has always kept an eye on it.
I have a few ideas on how the boat could be beneficial to both of us.
If you which to make contact for a conversation please do so .
Colin.
Hello! Apologies for the late reply to your comment, for some reason my own website was not alerting me to new comments!! This is potentially very interesting. I will drop you an email as well as this reply.
Warm, welcoming, engaging, and brilliant. David, I could watch a feature length “Davidism” with no problem at all. No popcorn, just a good cheese sandwich and I’m set for 90 minutes.! That k you again for the windows into your life.
You are most kind, thank you!
Thanks! I always enjoy your vlogs. I love the beautiful desk in the background. It’s been my favorite piece of furniture since childhood.
Thank you. I knew when I bought the house that I wanted a proper wooden writing bureau and looked around for ages until I found that one. I was so pleased!
Dear David,
Here’s a project for you…build your small narrowboat! There are tons of designs on the internet for small canalboats you can build out of plywood, that would be trailerable. Check out the website “Duckworks” it’s a good source of plans and building supplies, and you have the skills!!
Please come to the US…the New York State Canal System is among the most intriguing Canal networks in the nation. And for watching really Big Boats, you can’t beat the Welland Canal in Canada.
Best wishes,
A plywood narrowboat really wouldn’t be up to the task, given the thumps and bumps most canal boats receive and I have nowhere to build it but it’s an interesting idea!
Love your videos – always an entertaining listen and so professionally produced. My travel has to be virtual because of poor health so I too like Emma Cruises videos and other narrow boater videos too. My current favourites are The Nomadic Crobots – so positive & upbeat .
I look forward to more of your adventures in future. To be honest, you can make just about anything interesting with your super easy to listen to voice& delivery, humour and authentic takes on whatever the subject so I’d imagine you’d get sick of making films before you run out of material. Best wishes to you.
Thank you Margaret. I’m glad the magic of YouTube still enables you to enjoy travel albeit from home.
Nice vlog David. Couldn’t agree with you more when it comes to cheese! Cheddar and the stronger the better, but I must confess to enjoying melted Pilgrim on toast!
Can I ask, do you ad lib the answers or have you some sort of script to refer to?
Small boats? We had a 20 foot Springer many years ago. A bit cramped but well laid out. Turning around in the canal was a bonus – we could spin round on the spot so never bothered with winding holes.
As usual, take care young man.
Thank you Barry! I ad-lib all the answers completely on the fly :-)
