Vlog 279: Honey, I Shrunk the Narrowboat!
Regular viewers will know I have long had an interest in – some might say an obsession about – very short narrowboats on the British canals. The time had come for me to go and have a look around a couple and see if they are for me.

Not on small boat topic but it did occur to me whilst watching that some years ago I was a lorry driver and travelling down the M40 near Banbury one sunny day I looked across at the Oxford canal and the chap on a barge quite close waved to me and I waved back. It came to me that he was operating a 200 year old type of transport with the cargo area converted to living space and I wondered if at some point in the future there would be artics on a restored motorway network with the trailers converted to living accomo.
Quite possibly!
David, Thanks again. I now start looking for the next VLOG 12- 14 days after the previous. How about a VLOG or two about non-boating canal and river user? Walkers, anglers, paddle boarders dogs etc Woof!!
Cheers. It’s definitely on my mind, no sure how to approach the topic yet. Needs to be more than just “here are some other people who use the canal”, so I need to come up with an angle on it.
Hello David. We started our narrow boating with a 20 foot Springer with a Yamaha outboard. Lovely little boat if a tad cramped!
We’re of an age now that we’ve decided to sell our 39 footer and move on to something else.
Anybody want to buy a first class and well maintained boat?
As usual take care young man.
Best of luck with the sale!
I’ve just noticed the similarity between your voice, and the comforting tones of Oliver Postgate! Praise indeed!
Hahaha I’m not sure I can agree with the comparison but I’ll take the compliment, thank you
Fabulous David. I share your love of small narrowboats. Thank you.
There’s something particularly charming about them…
Very interesting, I love narrow boats.
Thanks David…!
Cheers Jim, they are great, aren’t they?!
