Vlog 170: Vertigo
It’s the longest, highest canal aqueduct and it’s in Wales; in this video I’m visiting Pontcysyllte but I’m not doing so alone – my boat’s nowhere near there so I’m hitching a ride with Kath & Anna of the Narrowboat Experience. Don’t look down!
You can see their vlog of the day at www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLkJt7z5lyU
There have been tragedies on the aqueduct though; see www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-47488647
Awesome; thanks for sharing.
Lovely vlog, the Llangollen is truly one of the most beautiful canals in the country. With reference to the paddle boarders, we were told last September that they were no longer allowed to use the aqueduct. However, in high season it’s very popular with canoeists, including large groups of young children, all of which add to the wait to cross, which in itself is not a problem, but they tend to be all over the place like rabbits so extra care has to be taken!
Oh I can only imagine the congestion!
Oh David, this one is so picturesque ! The scenery was truly eye candy for those of us living vicariously through your quality videos. Anna and Kath did a wonderful job repainting the boat, and Kath’s navigating skills through those tight spaces were simply top notch. I really enjoyed this one.
Thank you Michael; it is rather a spectacular sight. And indeed site as well. Anna and Kath are amazing too.
Have done this several times – hire boat, our own boat and hotel boat. If you ever get the time do walk down below the aqueduct. The bottom of the pillars are much bigger than they appear to be from above. Enjoyed your vlog as usual.
Hi Iris, cheers. Yes I did walk down, that’s how I got the shots looking up at it from the river!! :-)
