Vlog 36: Dunking Doughnut
After a lovely couple of days hanging out in the sunshine at Norton Junction it was time to move the canal boat to Braunston ready for a minor engineering fix. This involved going through the hideous Braunston tunne and six wide locks. There was also a nasty moment for me at the water point!
Have Viking 28 NB GRP, and does not rust, but very big problem if meet a steel boat in tunnel ! I think I am too young to die just yet. Are narrow boats tunneling at night ? Is it safe for me then ! Anyway not for some years yet, as unable to use it – so dry moored on land.
Most narrowboats don’t move at night but there’s no actual restriction on (privately-owned ones) doing so. Hire boats aren’t supposed to move at night. I don’t know what you’re supposed to do in a GRP; in theory there’s space for both to pass (assuming a two-way tunnel!) but you do get the odd bump… maybe ask people at your local Cruising Club, there’s a few of them around.
There is also an excellent fish’n’chip shop that will cook by phone call in the village.
Is public bathing permitted by crt ?
It’s mandatory for all proper boaters.
Another excellent video. As I’ve written in a previous comment we’re going to be spending 10 days or so on our families narrow boat this September. These videos are certainly making the run up to our vacation pleasant.
Very pleased to hear it! Thanks.
The King of dunking! Brilliant. Yes, those centre lines, all very good but they are just one line. That butchers does lovely pies too. Loved the high speed lock drill, must do more of those, could be very educational.
