  1. One thing to remember when driving in NZ don’t park on the wrong side of the road (i.e facing oncoming traffic) maybe legal in the UK but not here. Seen it often
from tourists and good way to get a ticket!

  2. I live In Palmerston North (nearer Wellington) and would like to meet up in Auckland but might cook my Nissan Leaf EV battery doing the 550km one way trip to Auckland. I find Vodafone.co.nz good for mobile data and can get sorted with a sim at the mobile shops as you exit into the international arrivals area before exiting the airport (hard to miss as not a massive airport). Keep things locked up and safe when travelling NZ as not as safe as used to be. If need any help travelling the lower/middle North island then happy to help as I can as have enjoyed your Vlogs. Best places I like to visit are Rotorua, Taupo, Napier and SH2 from Napier to Wellington via Masterton is more scenic than SH1 via Paraparaumu but worth doing if a return trip. South Island much more scenic and just better.

  3. Sydney can be lovely late March. Enjoy your time there. There’s a train from The airport to Circular Quay then an 8 minute walk to The Rocks. If you have a contactless visa card or the appropriate app on your phone, you can scan these devices at the gate so no need to buy a ticket.

  4. Commented about meeting up in Sydney under your subscriber count vlog. Looking forward to it.

  5. Hi David,
Kind of jealous. Was flown into Sydney for R&R when I was in Vietnam and was treated very well. Never made it to New Zealand but it looks interesting. Have fun on your trip! I will try to enter the contest.

  6. Hi David,
Having just watched your latest vlog on Flights of fancy, yes we think a UK meet up would be a great idea. We’d definitely support you in that.

    • Great! Cheers

    • Hi David. Andy and myself also live on our boat and would love to meet you on a uk meet-up. You were the reason we chose to live aboard. Please let us know whereabouts you would like to meet. We are around Trent and Mersey canal ( northwich area) but would be happy to meet anywhere that is convenient.
      Cheers Sharon and Andy

      • Hi. Thank you; I think there may have been some misunderstanding though, the idea of a meetup is that I’ll name a place and time and then anyone who’s interested can come along and we’ll have a big group meetup as a single event, rather than “one on ones”. Just like I’m doing in Auckland and Sydney. Cheers

  7. Sounds like fantastic holiday. Enjoy! Will look for updates on your other vlog.

If you ever want to see the Panama Canal let me know.

  8. A “Chock Full” video to be sure David. What I’d like to comment upon firstly is, ABC Leisure Hire Boats. I rented a boat from them last September out of Blackwater Meadows Marina to cruise up the LLangollen Canal all the way into Wales. All I can say about ABC is . . . THEY ARE FANTASTIC! The people working the office are Top Drawer and SUPER FRIENDLY. Adding to this, I would rent a boat from them every day and twice on Sunday. The experience I had on that four day trip, especially crossing the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct on my 60th Birthday . . . well let’s just say I will treasure this memory forever and ABC Leisure made that all possible for me. I am excited for you on your upcoming trips and I’d like to especially learn about your experiences travelling both the Welsh and Scottish canals. I’m sure your campervan trip to Kiwi Land will be Crikey . . . a Good Time to be sure. Also excited for your following to reach 100,000, that’s quite an achievement. And . . . as I’ve mentioned in previous comments, I suspect you alone have done more to bolster the Hire Boat Industry through your Vlog, I can see why ABC is so willing to associate itself with you. Well done ABC! Bye for now from America and take very good care . . .

  9. Hi David,

We recently came across your vlogs and are now hooked and rush home from work each day to watch them!

Sadly we don’t yet have our own boat but are feeling most inspired by your adventures and achievements. We hire from ABC each year and we’re delighted to hear about the up and coming competition.

We are also so pleased to hear about your possible Mon & Brec adventure, we did it last year and it’s beautiful (it is very shallow and we saw a lot of pole action and had to use the plank as it was so shallow at the edges you couldn’t get the boat in to get off!)

This year we have already booked to go on the Kennet and Avon and are also deciding on Scotland (either the Caledonian or the Union).

You mentioned a possible UK meet up- we would love to!

Please keep posting the vlogs they’re great.

    Best wishes

    Jo & Scott

    • Thank you! I think the CRT have done some dredging on the Mon and Brec recently so I’m hoping it won’t be too bad… haha I’ll find out!

  10. The place has changed its name to Wynyard Grill. I may be able to pop by.

    Regards
    Kevin
